This may be a basic question but I am going to ask anyways. How does one know when the consumables are bad. I've read many different things and would just like some clarification.. Pictures definitely would help if you have them.

Best place to start is to open up the Powermax45 operators manual to section6, Maintenance and Repair. There is a detailed section on inspecting consumables. Life of the consumables is better if proper cutting techniques are followed and section 5 has a detailed section on cutting techniques.
