total noob with DTHC and THC Questions

Post by rockymountain »

SO we got a pretty good deal on a older but never used plasma table setup. None of us have used or had any schooling on this. We use a 5x10 plasma route cnc blaze, (I will rant about this company later) thermal dynamics 60a, CorelDraw4x, sheetcam, Mach 3, and its all on a older computer running windows xp.
We have cut up half a truck load of steel and continue to learn new stuff every day. our latest problem has been with the THC. when turned on the torch rises to the heavens. I have tried to change the cut profile in mach. changed many settings and cant figure out wtf is causing this. if at all possible I want this thing to drag on the steel. HELP!!!!

What I have seen with Mach 3 is the Z home signal is different for plasma then routing. If you think about why it is, for plasma you home to the surface of the metal and routing you home away from the surface to protect the bits when moving around. With plasma you have a rapid height that it goes to before moving around. What you may be doing is homing in the wrong direction for plasma. and you can reverse directions in the ports and pins configure page

Sorry Rocky I gave you the wrong location to fix the problem you change the direction of the home in "Homing/Limits" for the Z axis. You want it to home negative the same as the X and Y homes. This means going back to "0"
