Hello everyone I'm new to this forum and new to cnc plasma.
I'm not new to the CNC World, about 12 years ago I built my "CajunCutter" it's all heavy duty 4' X 6' cnc router table with 3hp water cooled spindle, 5 nema 34 steppers, w/4th axis, I'm running it on MACH 3 EtherCut on XP. Electronic purchased from CandCNC.
I'm a retired machinist with a long background in building cabinets and furniture. My shop is a 42' X 100' w/14' eves. One side is a complete cabinet shop and the other a Fab/Machine shop. The machine shop is equipped with 14" X 60" manual lathe, BridgePort clone mill, Milltronics CNC mill, 60" hydraulic sheer, 10' metal break, 5' X 10' plasma table, 2" X 72" belt sander and much more.
The main reason I join this forum is the vast amount of knowledge and its members so eager to help their fellow members.
I really really like the layout of plasmaspider's forum.
Like I said earlier I'm new to the plasma world. I just purchased a used 5X10 BurnTable with a Hypertherm Powermax 65. The first project was to build a water pan for the table with a holding tank. My thinking was that I would not be using the table on a daily basis and I didn't want to leave the water just sitting in the pan causing rust to form. I found a used 350gal chemical tote and cut it down to fit under the table. I installed a 3/4 hp swimming pool pump to transfer the water up to the pan. The tote holds 200gal and the pan holds 160gal, to help prevent rust I added 4lb of BORAX 20 Mule Team, and 3lb Sodium Nitrate. I also coated the inside of the pan with BLACK JACK Elasto-Kool 1000 Elastomeric white reflective roof coating. Oh and just for looks I dump a 8-ounce bottle TotalPond Pond Blue. My wife came in the shop as I was about to start installing the slats, she said wow, it looks like a swimming pool with the blue water on the white background.
OK I'll stop running my mouth now, but before I go I would like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge with the rest of its members.
