CNC newbie here

Post by rusty gates »

Hi, I'm Rusty and I'm fairly new to anything CNC.
I live in Western Australia and I was going to buy a plasma cutting table, but couldn't find something locally that suited my needs or budget. I looked into shipping one into Australia but it wasn't going to be cost effective for me. So I decided to build my own table and ended up with a table with a work area of 1340 x 1340mm so it can easily take a half sheet of material.
My table is running the MyPlasmCNC controller and plasma interface unit (from Proma Elektronika), which I like because of its simplicity and ease of use. I alternate between using their inbuilt CAD or Inkscape for my designs, signs, etc.
I'm using a Razor Cut 45 plasma cutter, marketed in Australia under the Unimig banner. It's identical to the RazorWeld 45 cutter.

I recently retired, so the plasma table is the focus of my new retirement business venture.

I hope I can contribute to the forum, but in the beginning I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for you.

regards
Rusty...

Welcome aboard Rusty! That sounds like a nice build - perhaps share some photos along with the details of your actual table build. There are many other DIY owners/members here, as well as a wealth of information and plenty of cut ready files. Be sure to ask any questions and there are members here who will try to help you. Have Fun!!

I think you could post them right here if you like. Or else in the diy section I have linked to below.

I have found your Youtube channel with videos of your build. Perhaps take some selected screen shots to post here on the forum.
