New guy from New Zealand

Post by Nzniceguy »

Hello, I have always had engineering equipment for hobby use and enjoy hot rodding but have started making metal art a few years ago and it's been quite successful. I have sold every piece I've made and there's been hundreds!
Have an open source type plasma table being built as we speak. Tables are very expensive here so I had to go the budget option. Still have 10k invested though including a good plasma source.
Totally new to cnc and cad so looking forward to sponging up as much information as possible.
I have a wee metal lathe, a good size mill, mig welder, english wheel, bead roller along with all the usual stuff one needs to be self sufficient in building cars etc.

Thanks for having me!

Welcome aboard! It sounds like you are really "tooled up" with most everything you need to build custom pieces. What kind of cnc table are you having built? Maybe post some photos of your new table along with some of your projects. There is much information here on CAD, CAM, hardware, etc. Inkscape is free and seems to be quite popular for creating/editing artistic pieces. I find Fusion 360 (also free) to be very useful for more mechanical parts. Qcad is another free one that is used quite a bit as well. Do you have a planishing hammer to help you shape your metal parts? I build planishing hammers (both finished and kit form) and ship world wide. You can check my website or Ebay store for more information - links below.
