Hey y’all from Georgia

Post by StanInAugusta »

Hi everybody, new to the plasma cnc world, got a trucut table with a hypertherm powermax 45, learning and picking up pretty quick but trying really hard to get this thing dialed in. I’m coming from a world of drafting and fabrication as an industrial mechanic, so the software is not too bad, still learning a lot of little things when it comes to the table. Took about 3 months to setup my home shop as I had to build a full compressor room with dryers and filtration for the table (wanted to get it right the first time) now I’m just working on learning to dial in settings and speed to get the cleanest cuts possible. Any advise from the seniors on here would be greatly appreciated! Hope y’all are having a good holiday season otherwise, merry Christmas y’all!

welcome aboard, most important is the steps per for distance for the axis, and then the speed (acceleration and velocity settings) each motor will be different unless you slave two together. If you are using a Mach 3 based controller software here is a video showing a quick method.

Here is another video about the same thing, the guy is very wordy but great info. Real stuff about 10 minutes in and he gives the formula just use inches in place of MM. Do it about 3 times each being longer travel for better resolution.

Welcome to the forum Stan! My best advise is to use the settings contained in the Hypertherm Owner's Manual mechanized cutting charts for pierce height, cut height, pierce delay time, cut speed, current setting, and kerf width. The Hypertherm engineers spent a lot of time to get these right. Other than that, good luck dialing in your new table and Happy Cutting!
