Canadian Newbie

Post by northstarhighschool »

Hi Everyone,
I'm a high school teacher in Ontario that has purchased a Torchmate 4400. So far, we've used the table to build firepits and decorative signs for sale to the public. Projects are student built/fabricated and proceeds go back to our manufacturing program here at the school to cover material and consumable costs. Came across this group and look forward to sharing ideas and files.

Welcome aboard! That's a great way to give your students a real sense of accomplishment building and selling their products. Although I don't have a Torchmate table, I do have and use the Torchmate software (TMCad) and it's great fun to use. Perhaps post some photos of some of your student built projects for others to see.

Welcome aboard, please use the search function in the upper right for a good look around here for files to download and use in your effort. The membership is world wide and there are great projects posted. Many art and functional type files along with just fun things.

Welcome aboard! Great to hear high school shops still doing this sort of stuff, very fun and rewarding for the students to be able to cut and build cool projects. Would love to see some of what your students are making if you have the opportunity to post pics :Like

That is some mighty fine work! Your students should be very proud of their accomplishments. Thanks for sharing these with us. What kind of paint are you using for the finishes?

Some of the signs are powder coated by a local company, while others are sprayed with a tremclad.

Thanks for that! They all look great regardless of the finish you applied. Keep up the good work.
