Workable with plasma too!

Post by Joe Jones »

So you may know that I am over my head in lasers at the moment. Two more of them will arrive soon, and they will all be set up on the second, and maybe even the third floor of my FrankenBarn. (or is it the third and fourth floors, when you count the basement?)

I buy the X-TOOL brand, because I am impressed with both the quality of their machines, and the company itself. PlasmaCam could learn a LOT from X-TOOL.

They have a web page for free design files for their customers. These are nice files, but I got to thinking .... It is always dangerous when I get to thinking ...

Why couldn't these files be cut with a plasma table, just LARGER than how they are cut with a laser?

Their files are in .xcs format (X-TOOL Creative Space Software Currently FREE to download!) but those files CAN be exported from Creative Space as .svg files, and brought into Inkscape, where they can then be exported as .dxf files.

There is some clean up needed through the conversion process. Sometimes the lines get a little wonky, but these are very workable files for a plasma table. Just make it BIGGER!

Joe

By the way, for even MORE art files, just change the number at the end of the link! Try, 101, 100, 99, 98, etc.

I took the time today, to create a spreadsheet with ALL of the file links in one easy, accessible spreadsheet. There are over 200 links in this spreadsheet.

Hint: LOTS of great Christmas designs!

Enjoy!

Check out the LA Hobby Guy website and forum. That is where most of the laser junkies hang out.

I would not worry about that at all. There is nothing "TikTok invasive" about Creative Space software.

It wants to communicate over your network, because the X-TOOL laser uses wireless connectivity (WiFi) to the PC. You can also connect your laser to the PC using a standard USB cable. You can also use Creative Space to run SEVERAL lasers in a room from the same PC.
