Mailbox topper

Post by farmer53 »

I was at a garage sale a while back and the guy said he had a farmall tractor on his mailbox but someone stole it.

I dropped this by his house the other day with a note but I haven?t heard back from him.

Over all it is about 12 inches x 12 inches. It was made of 14 gauge. It seamed a little heavy for the top of a mail box.

Any suggestions on size or design for attaching a mailbox topper would be appreciated.

Here are several I made a few years ago. I cut them in 2 pieces and spot welded them together after bending. Worked real well. If I remember right I used (2) #10-24 screws and nuts to mount them. Bend the top piece 100 degrees and the bottom piece 170 degrees.

Here is one that I make, 14 ga and powder coated. I supply stainless steel bolts and nuts with the topper. When I say powder coated and stainless steel, it gives people piece of mind.

This is bent along the line at a right angle. I use rubber roofing for washers between the topper and the mailbox along with stainless & rubber sealing washers under the screw head. I also use a piece of 2x2 treated lumber long enough to catch both screws inside the box
