HVAC duct work patterns?
I have had a rash of customers asking for HVAC patterns. Is there a website or a file share that anyone knows of? Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

Re: HVAC duct work patterns?
I have not found any reasonably (in my opinion) software for developing HVAC work. But then if I had the software it would not get used over once a year of so. Good software out there but not cheap.

Re: HVAC duct work patterns?
Pattern libraries don't exist. It would take thousands of different patterns to cover every fitting in every size in every angle. I don't mean this in a bad way, but considering your connections in China, I'd think you could get an HVAC program private labeled for pretty cheap money.

Re: HVAC duct work patterns?
PlasmaCam has a program for duct work. I have not used it. I would love to but for as little as I cut duct work, it cost too much. Im old school. I learned how to do the layouts on paper back in high school. Now I just draw it up on the computer and cut.

Looks Interesting. It's a bit unclear as to whether is creates parts to US HVAC standards. The price is attractive and certainly worth trying the demo version.

Is it an add-on to their system or is it independent and produce DXF files?MQUICK wrote:PlasmaCam has a program for duct work. I have not used it. Design2Fab is great and somewhat affordable. You can get a trial version from this link to check it out http://www.hyperthermcam.com/products/d ... Design2FAB I worked in hvac shops and used this as well as Shop Data Systems. Shop Data Systems has a larger library of fittings but Design2Fab covers all common fittings and is much more affordable.

I know this is an old post but are you still offering DXF files for fittings?

I make files for people all the time. Including for HVAC fittings. That said, unless you have a standard piece that you do repeatedly it would be a good idea to look at a program like Design2Fab.

Re: HVAC duct work patterns?
There are programs out on the web that create specialty fittings like square to rounds or cones if you are just doing a one of. If you do sheet metal all the time I would invest in a program that has all the fittings and you just input dimensions and the dxf is created.
I am retired from the sheet metal industry after 36 years and the specialty programs run into some $$$$ but are worth it in the long run.

Yeah this is a one off, not looking to do a whole lot of this. I think Robert490 has me covered.

Re: HVAC duct work patterns?
Back when I was working with Design2fab there were different levels of the software you could buy. Had to look at what each option provided to determine the cost. In the end my copy was under 2k and did everything I needed and I was able to tell it what equipment I was using so it could create the proper seams and such. At the time it was the best thing going for the money.

Re: HVAC duct work patterns?
Journeyman version is required for exporting DXF - I don't know how it's sold now, I think HyperthermCAM actually owns it now. I seem to remember it was around $2k as well.
