Military Logos
Hey does anyone have some military logos? I am not sure if the logos are copyrighted but I thought I'd ask. I am looking to piece the logos together to make a plaque to give to a couple friends that have served that have just returned from over seas. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys.

Re: Military Logos
Look thru Steve Good's web site. He has them as pdf files you can download for free. http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com/
They can be converted very easily to what ever file format you need.
Larry
P.S. If you have a problem getting them, PM me and I'll give you the ones you want.

This is the page we put free DXF file. Not pictures. There is a page for that on this web site. It would be nice to get some Military file in zip formate. Not having to much fun with downloading dfx file from this web site. The file down load all broken. Dont know why. But it susks. Have to sit there and join all the lines before I cut.

Re: Military Logos
The DXF files found on this site are only as good as the posting member has created them to be. Broken line sements are a common trait of many dxf files depending on a number of determining factors despite the skill level of the artist. Many programs such as Corel X5 give you the ability to "Join" broken segments with 1 click and then give you the option to automatically "Smooth" the lines if need be. I have found it be a very useful tool with some of the files that many of our generous members share with us.

I'm sorry if it bothered you for me to post a picture as an example of the type of files that were available from Steve Good?s web site. Most of the pieces in that picture were from his site. Sometimes it helps to know what is on a site so we can judgeif we want to spend time going somewhere that has nothing we want.
Also, a few points about the FREE files that are posted here:
1: They are posted to help others with whatever project that is being worked on.
2: The poster uses whatever software they have to work the file and post it. Not everybody uses the same software OR needs the files to be as clean as other people do. If I absolutely need clean ready to cut files I BUY them. Some of the files on this site ARE that good, BUT many of them need a little cleaning up before they can be cut on SOME machines.
3: If you have a problem with the files from a certain poster, then DO NOT download the files that person puts up, or learn to deal with fixing the file yourself, and make a program that YOUR machine needs.
4: If you ask for help with a file I am sure that help will be given, but don?t expect the members to do all your work for you, and do it for FREE!
Larry
P.S. Some of us have CNC machines and software that will cut almost any file, mine does.

Re: Military Logos
Is there a good way to convert these PDF's to DXF files? I would like to try to cut the United States Navy Veteran one for a friend. The only way I have to do it is to trace it by hand.

Re: Military Logos
If you try Inkscape and do a trace with brightness cutoff of 760 it will give you a good DXF or SVG file to save and load into SheetCam from the above image.

Re: Military Logos
I downloaded the Navy SEAL trident several years ago and had great luck with it but now I try to load and open it and it`s anything but smooth. Is there any reason it would have become angular and choppy looking? also am looking for a very detailed coast guard seal

Some of these files are quite large, but I hope you can use them. I haven't cut any of them yet.
Good luck,
