Fire ring

Had a family get together last night so I made a fire ring. Before I joined here I really hadn't heard of one before. I got the file from the board, so thanks to whomever posted it. Everyone loved it and "wants one"!

Nice ring looks great, what did you bend the steel with.? do you use a slip roller?

My bad Loyd , Campfire and friends sometimes = beer and party. LOL, heck we try to burn beer cans to, really don't work that well

Here ya go Its for a 36" ring but you can resize accordingly,
the small lines are where we bend the base for the legs at 80deg and 2" from ends of the legs at 80deg and handles/holderlips at 90 deg

Thanks a lot.

I am drawing a few ring designs right now and I will be able to re size the base to fit my designs.

I really like the base you came up with and I think it will be a cool way to build a few pits for some family members this holiday season.

What thickness are you using to make the fire rings?

We are trying to get some made up here at the school for a little money makers. Don't want to overkill with metal but don't want to make it too light either.

I use 11g normally but have on request gone thicker up to 3/8 (which I think is just rediculous overkill) I have never had one warp or rust through yet...

Also thanks to overengineered for the flame design I'm gonna try and cut one out for myself today. Brian would you mind sharing a .DXF for the firering you have sitting on the pit stand? I think that would be a great gift for my parents in Michigan.!

Oh and I use 12GA. on all the pits I've made only had a problem once and that was a newyears party that lasted about 10 hours of burning wich a few of my cuts got bent from people tossing logs in other than that 12ga seams to work fine for me.

Just saying I use 7ga(.174) for my firerings...its just because we have drop pieces from a prior job that are perfect for it.....

what do you use to bend that so nice i tried loved the flame cut but couldnt get my bends that sharp

We have break presses at work.....I believe it was a .250 inch radius punch that my buddy uses to bend it....The tabs are bent at their bases and there are spots in the top and bottom profiles to align and break.....

Great file. Thank you for posting. This fire pit took longer to paint than cutting and bending. Sold this one at a live charity auction for $825. What should these sell for?
