Plasmacam Gantry Height

Hi People !!

Has anyone added additional height for the plasmacam system ? I got a job to cut slots into 2" square tubing and I needed more height of the gantry. Here are a couple pictures for those interested. I saved the cut files for the parts required. The parts are cut out of 1/8" and then the brackets get welded after bending. This modification gets you 1.75" of additional height and can be left in place, all you have to do is move your torch mount down 2 holes. One stop is required on the right front to keep the train from falling off the tracks while bringing the machine to the Y- limit !! Hopefully this helps some folks !!!

I am developing a rail and gantry lift system that will raise the entire system up flat and level, using synchronized linear actuators. I hope to have a kit available later this year. It will fit both the PlasmaCam 4x4 tables as well as the Samson 510 tables.

John Derby sells a lift kit that gives 4x4 table owners four inches of gantry clearance, along with four inches of Z-axis travel for your backing plate.

Bill Klemm built the Klemmbot lift system, and sells the plans for $100.00. It is a mechanical crank-up rail riser system that works well. His system gives a user nine inches of gantry clearance as I recall. It is a functional modification to the table that you will not regret. You drop a crank into a hole and turn it to raise four telescoping tubes. I believe he has since made an electric drive mod for his system.

My system will cost more, but it is digital, and electric, and just plain cool! At full height the user will have 27.5" of rock solid gantry clearance.
