Thanks for excepting me to the forum

Post by Plasron »

My name is Ron, live in Georgia, I’m liking everything I see here on the forum.
My brother and I have been playing around learning all we can about the world of Plasma cutting, I can get around in Mach3 fairly well, Inkscape I’m fair at it but, Sheetcam is a challenge but I’m starting to get the basics understanding of it.
Found this site became a member and downloaded some of the shares from some of you, now when I import a DXF file in to Sheetcam the file is Huge, that is where I’m stuck at now, but I will eventually understand it a little better.
Once I get Inkscape, Mach3, Sheetcam and understand how they all work to with each other, look out I’m about to cut a lot of stuf.

Welcome tot he site Ron! I am not a Sheetcam guy so I can't help you but I can almost guarantee one of the others here will chime in shortly with a simple fix. Likley just the units are different.

You can import the file into your CAD software and scale it to the correct size, save as a DXF or SVG (if available) and import that into Sheetcam and run as usual. You can also change the scaling in Sheetcam, but it is clunky.

I use Draftsight which is no longer free. I have heard good things about Q Cad (free) and Inkscape (free)

I use a true CAD program for parts and Inkscape for picture kinda stuff and tracing and converting.

If you need a nudge in Sheetcam, post up in the Sheetcam section of this forum. Les Newell (creator of Sheetcam) makes frequent appearances there. I love Sheetcam and am fairly proficient at getting it do do what I want. Don't be afraid to ask for help.
