New to the Laser World

Hello there. I just purchased a Voiern Laser, WR9060 a couple days ago. Waiting to install my Multimeter and waiting for my Water Chiller prior to starting it up. I do have a question though. I can move the z-axis up and down with buttons on the side. This takes forever! The Z-axis is chain driven and I want to be able to put a stepper motor in and make it autofocus. Anyone know if this is possible? They can do it with belt drives.
