Looks like you have your own " Home Depot"
Good idea. easy to find what your looking for..
I lay my longer pieces on a wall rack,
The shorter pieces normally go to the bone yard out back
Then get loaded on my utility trailer with sheet drop etc. and to the scrap yard

That red material storage rack/bin looks nice. Perfect for shorter pieces of material. I never take anything metal to the scrap yard. I can always find use for the leftovers, even the short pieces. I store much of my metal (steel, aluminum, etc) on horizontal racks mounted to the wall, or in semi-organized piles laying on the floor. I've got a roll around cart for my larger sheet metal pieces. If you are interested, I''ll post some photos.

This was my attempt at solving the “everything you need is always at the bottom” in floor steel rack. There are 12@ 7ft deep for shorter sticks/ cutoffs, 12@ 15ft deep for 20ft, an 8@ 19ft deep for 24ft steel. With the overhead 10ton crane it’s easy to walk up pick what you need, cinch with a strap and pull up what you need. No piece is ever stuck on the bottom. Works great! Same concept on a larger scale

Are my eyes deceiving me or am I seeing big holes bored in your concrete floor to store long pieces of material?!

That’s exactly what your seeing during construction we dug 19 ft hole in the ground welded the tubes together and capped the bottom of them an we set it backfilled and poured around them. Here’s a better view😎

Now there is some good planning. Wow, what a great idea! I love it, will never have the chance to do it, nor do I need it, but I love it. Well done :Like :Like

My thoughts as well. Pretty awesome setup. In a pinch one could use an empty hole if you couldn't make it to the bathroom! :-)

Now that is some clever thinking hardworker, you're saving yourself quite a lot of floor space, well done indeed!
