You need to hook into the torch fire connections inside the unit, or if it has the CPC on the rear, you can access them from there. The hand torch and machine torch use different start connections

Is this the 45 or 45xp? For the 45xp with machine torch, you can install the cpc port upgrade and then purchase the proper torch control cable from Robert Johnson. I don't believe the cpc is available for the non-xp machine. For hand torch with the 45, the torch control cable from Plasmacam with internal voltage divider is the easiest method to connect the cutter to the controller. The machine torch may have a different pin-out on the connector to the cutter. The purple trigger wire is normally spliced into for computer control of the torch trigger. I would suggest taking a look at the wiring diagrams for the hand torch and machine torch connectors and comparing them. You may find that you need to switch some of the internal wires to the torch connector to match your new torch. Also, what make and model number of machine torch are you attempting to use?

Please post what your final solution was for the benefit of future searchers with the same issue.

I make a kit to convert the old 45's CPC to the correct voltage ratio (for Plasmacam that's 21.1:1) so that people with the old machines can use the CPC interface cable like everyone else.
As David said, for the old 45 it is also relatively easy to change the trigger wire connections from the purple trigger wire over to pins 3 and 4 of the CPC in order to fire a machine torch.
Hopefully the OP will post the method they used to solve the problem but it has to have been along these lines!

Robert - that's great to know that you have the kit to convert the older 45 for use with the CPC torch control cable. I will keep that in mind for future reference.
Thanks,
David
