PlasmaCam's 4x8 Plasma Table
When they finally break down and sell a 4x8 table, I wonder what they will call it?
After all, there are only a FEW pieces that need to be made. They already have the 4x4 frame pieces, and the center legs for the 510 table, and the 4x4 end frames, and the 4x4 rails, and the 4x4 'Y' grate slats, and the 4x4 gantry.
All they need to do is make the 'X' grate slates for a 4x8 instead of a 5x10, and shorten the two center brace plates of the 510 table to accommodate a 4x8 format. It would seem to be a no-brainer. Not EVERYONE has the room for a 5x10 table.

Trying to come up with something funny and witty but drawing a blank. None of the current names relate to each other at all. Let's hear some suggestions and have a vote

Re: PlasmaCam's 4x8 Table
I just wish PlasmaCam would sell ALL of the table components, so we could buy the frame extensions and additional legs, etc. I would love to convert my 5x10 into a 5x20, but PlasmaCam will not sell the factory frame and leg components, and they will not even TRY to offer custom wiring harnesses for people who want to remove that STUPID boom arm and put drag chains along the X and Y axis of the table.

Re: PlasmaCam's 4x8 Table
Well I can see why they don't want to entertain custom requests, or retrofit parts, it's time consuming and creates tech questions which makes things unprofitable. It would be a great service to their huge client base though. So what's your name suggestion for the new 4x8 from Pcam if they ever do it...I wanna hear this...

Re: PlasmaCam's 4x8 Table
Nothing would need to be retrofitted. They already HAVE the parts. Two 4x4 tables could be easily built into a 4x8 by simply providing the center legs and swinging boom arm of the 510, and the appropriate cross braces and grate slats. They would also need to provide the gear racks for the 510 rails, to span the gap between the two 4x4 rails butted together.AREA wrote: Mon Dec 26, 2022 2:09 pm Well I can see why they don't want to entertain custom requests, or retrofit parts, it's time consuming and creates tech questions which makes things unprofitable. What to name a 4x8 table ... How about "The PlasmaCam 48"? The "510" is a 5x10, so why wouldn't the "48" be a 4x8?

Re: PlasmaCam's 4x8 Table
The the table parts are a bolt on, the torch boom removal would be a retrofit. All I am saying is that they sell table parts, customer takes machine apart, puts it back together, now has issues, calls tech support. It will happen, they know that, and I am sure that is one of a few reasons they don't do it.

Re: PlasmaCam's 4x8 Table
There is ZERO difference between bolting together a 5x10 or a 4x8. Some of the parts are a foot shorter. That is the ONLY difference.AREA wrote: Mon Dec 26, 2022 3:50 pm The the table parts are a bolt on, the torch boom removal would be a retrofit. Hmmmmmm.... Clearly you've put a lot of thought into this. Any chance you whisper sweet nothings into your machines data port on those long lonesome nights in the shop?

Re: PlasmaCam's 4x8 Plasma Table
I did it in just a few hours,
Needed a little bit of 3-inch angle
Drew up center leg
both side rails with racks from plamascam
less than a day of labor
And I'm sure would cost a lot more from plamacam

I am guessing the additional 1/4" width of the rails was not an issue?
Did you use the 4x4 gear racks, or did you change to the 510 gear racks for the extended rails to achieve the full 8 feet of X travel? If you used the 4x4 gear racks, how did you deal with the gap between them?
Did you buy the CSB Customizable Size Upgrade for your DesignEdge software?

Nice job Rex! What you did in a few hours would probably take me a few days or more. I guess I work slow.Rex wrote: Tue Dec 27, 2022 11:30 pm IMG_0490(1).jpgA 4x4 is very easy to extend to 4x8.
