Texas Lynx Logo DXF
I am one of the Ag Teachers at our school and we recently bought a new CNC machine. Being new to both PS and CNC working, I was needing help in designing a dxf file for our school logo. Is there anyone that can help me with this by chance? I would greatly appreciate it very much.
This was taken off a sign made years ago with this logo in the middle.

Re: Help with logo
here you go, next time please no shinny finish or reflections in the image. I used Inkscape to trace the image and the reflections put a lot of extra junk in trace.

Re: Help with logo
A bit rough. It needs a little TLC before it is cut. It really isn't even close to the actual logo. Sorry.acourtjester wrote: Wed Feb 22, 2023 12:00 pm here you go, next time please no shinny finish or reflections in the image. Inkscape isn't very good at tracing photos like this. It is better to draw it by hand.

Re: Help with logo
Yeah ... I see that! Ugh! So much easier to find the original logo on Google and trace that by hand. Strange ... they have TWO versions of it online. yours which is stretched vertically, and mine which is not stretched. Given the inconsistency of the font in your version, I am guessing that someone $%^&* it up by stretching it.

It looks like the high school band uses the LYNX logo with the heavy 'X'

Re: Help with logo
If I have those I would have saved time and could have produced much better result with Inkscape, I'm done.

Yep. Whenever a sports logo or something like that is in question, the first thing I do is search the Net for a GOOD sample of it.acourtjester wrote: Wed Feb 22, 2023 2:28 pm If I have those I would have saved time and could have produced much better result with Inkscape, I'm done.

Re: Help with logo
Lance - this one can be easily and quickly manually traced using Inkscape, which is a free program great for these sorts of artistic pieces. I will be back later to show you some simple steps to use so that next time you will be able to do something like this on your own. Working from your posted photo is fine for something like this - manually tracing. But as Tom pointed out, trying to do an auto trace on this particular image is problematic - regardless of the program used.lance.swan wrote: Wed Feb 22, 2023 11:10 am I am one of the Ag Teachers at our school and we recently bought a new CNC machine. Re: Help with logo
You are quite welcome! I think that between the collective responses to your question you now have a better idea of what is involved in a conversion like this, and possibly how my might do it yourself in the future. As I mentioned - Inkscape is free, easy to use, and I think the right tool for your job. If you are interested in learning more about Inkscape, the Inkscape section of the forum has some great information.lance.swan wrote: Thu Feb 23, 2023 8:04 am Thank y’all so much!! If Lance would have reached out to his buddy that has been plasma cutting for 10+ years. I had this logo digitized many years ago. A bit late, but welcome to PlasmaSpider.
