geodesic dome

Post by lloydforgeandfinish »

good afternoon, asked a question on one of the other pages so i figured i better pay my dues LOL. geodesic dome fire pit thing? this one is kind of small, scale for your size of course. should be ready to cut, enjoy.

the welder, flames and anchor could also be pulled out and added to something else.

Hey, thanks for uploading the file. When I tried to open it I had 6680 individual lines that were not joined. I also think you are missing the fifth base leg segment (I only see four).

Here is a version of your design with all the segments joined (except the welders outline) and the travel segments deleted. My post processor does it's own travel moves and I can ensure that it cuts the insides first.

Here is an image of how I laid out a partial geo dome fire pit.

Here are a few other patterns if you are interested...

You can mix and match or repeat the same image. You need: 1 Solid Pentagon 5 Solid Hexagons 5 Patterned Pentagons 5 Patterned Hexagons 5 Half Pentagons 5 Base Pieces to make an open top fire pit or you can keep adding pieces to continue the shape.

Thanks for sharing this!! When I open it, I see all of the rapid paths as well as the cut paths. Typically you would only show the actual drawing - Jim has done a good job of cleaning this up so it might be more usable to most.

Thanks,
David
