2016 Corevtte Design Edit in Inkscape

Post by beverly30 »

Thank you.

I have another question for you folks. I got a file for a 2016 Corvette Coupe from this site and it's only lines. I use Inkscape and I'm not sure how to get the black and white sections to work in my view. I can't tell what's going to drop out or not. These guys and their cars!! Can anyone help? I'm new to this. I'm not a CAD user so I did a convert to SVG and it looks the same as the DXF did in Inkscape. UGH. I'm beginging to hate cars!
The Fastback car the man wants has the 'gills' on the corner and in the side of the body. I guess it's what he had as a kid. Any help with these two cars would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU GUYS.

I'm use to brining in a file into Inkscape where there's black and white areas. All I see is white with black lines. I'm not sure how to get it plasma ready. Newbe here.
I need more metal not just the outline. Hopefully this makes sense.

If you need more metal and not just the outline, then this particular file may not be for you. It will take some serious editing to get it to the point where it looks more like the Mustang Ben posted. You could use the one Ben posted as an example and trace over the Corvette file image.

If you decide to proceed with your Inkscape edit, here is one way to proceed - follow along with the screen shots. If you get stuck or have questions, let us know and we will try to help you along.

Here is an image of the original file that you could use for your tracing.

Great job explaining David! I even understood it! :Yay
Played with Inkscape over the years but stick to P-Cam's design edge!
Thanks!

Thanks Jeff! It would be quicker for me to do with Design Edge, but since most folks don't have that program - I am showing it with Inkscape. I very often go back and forth between Design Edge and Inkscape (and sometimes CorelDraw) multiple times during a project. Each program has features and tools that I like.
