My other laptop crashed. I was able to get a boot disc and get into the hard drive and copy ALL my file to an external large terabyte drive.
I was able to find another laptop.
Ok. So I had also copied over my download folder which had the download of Inscape 1.2 and my desktop ICON called inkscape inches. All it basically is that it has the 48" x 96" table canvas or whatever you call it.
Anyway. I had to go into the Preferences and Theming and uncheck the dark them so it is lighter. I also had to reverse the Y axis so my left lower corner of my canvas was 0,0.
Issue 1: The document properties denote Inches in Format as well as Display units. When I used the ruler tool is shows up in MM.
When I create objects everything is good and in Inches. Just the ruler tool shows MM.
Thanks.

TJ, have you checked both of these spots?
I had to toggle mm and then back to inches on the second pic to get inches to show up.

Mo,
I have it set in all those places to inches. I just went back and toggled to MM and back to inches.
The ruler/measure tool still shows in MM.

Re: Inkscape 1.2 Ruler shows in MM
Ok,
I got it. I went back while the ruler tool was active on the canvas. Just clicked arbitrarily on the canvas with the ruler tool selected (still showed mm). I then went to units at the top and clicked MM and then back to Inches and it finally changed instantly. I hope this helps others that have this inkscape glitch.
Thanks.

Re: Inkscape 1.2 Ruler shows in MM
Inkscape opens using a default template that has all of the settings and by default (since its largely a European group) its in mm .
If you setup a template change all of the units it wills tart in that mode. There are some oddities. A lot of the Path Effects (like CORNERS) seem to default to Pix (pixals) , and each time you run it and change a value it pops back.
