10-4 I could see trying to make a video under pressure of curing parts may not work out so well, just thought I would ask as I find this very interesting. Will be following your progress on this. Great work.

Re: have you ever seen ?
making seals is a process. the material need weighed out then i add tint, it helps you know things are mixed up well. then you degas what you mix to get the air out and then you do your pour. once you get the material in the mold i degas again to get the air out that got introduced back into your material. the mold needs cleaned each time and sprayed with release agent which has to sit for a few minutes. actually, a lot is going on in your 30-minute window so messing with a camera in the mix of that would be hard for me pull off

SWEET !! Fun video. This'll be a really cool tool once you get it dialed.

Re: have you ever seen ?
hopefully this weekend i can get the rotary union buttoned up and, on this thing, to do some real testing. I'm not sure if i will have time to put a video together but probably next weekend i will have something to share with it working at least on this side. if i was retired things would go a lot faster but since this is a free time project the pace, I'm at is slow moving pace which is frustrating for me. I think i want to see things moving probably more than anyone.

I find that often the slow pace is a good thing, particularity when it is a 1st time project. Lots of time to think. Look forward to seeing your next chunk of progress

I think i might have to order some push to connect fittings actually. I thought I had some but the ones I found are not the right size. I might find two more, but it looks like I have everything but what I need. Story of my life most of the time. and it's that time of the year grass cutting season again, my yard is starting to look a little rough

Re: have you ever seen ?
I got a lot of things sorted out yesterday and even learned i few things along the way. 100% airtight is not something common on a rotary union this size. as a matter of fact, they often expect some slight blow by with these things. it's a trade off as long as you don't lose total control of the air flow. the whole concept fights physics so the basically what you are after is a balance between sealing and blow by so the things work trouble free. also things will break in over time as well and work better as things settle in.
what i can tell you so far is the air pressure has no effect on the drag with this design like the previous design did so that a win. the new design does really well moving in two directions so that's another win. at one point i had the pressure up to 110-psi and it was still airtight, so my 90-psi goal seems doable. Both air zones seal as they should so that's a win.so right now i am trying to find the sweet spot to balance the sealing and slight blow by to get the thing working smoothly.
just a heads up so everyone knows where i am at with this project. learning that blow by is something common with these things is a huge help to me gauging how things should feel so that was good news to learn.

Once again I am extremely impressed! Are you rotating that chuck by hand for the milling?

Yeah, that's all hand cranking with the rotary table on the Bridgeport.
not fun when you have a lot of that style work
