Octagonal mounting bracket

Before I make one, thought I would ask if someone else has a pattern. I am going to be putting a weather vane at the peak of an octagonal gazeebo, right at the peak. I don't yet know the pitch of the roof. Wondering what mounting options you guys may have.

I was thinking about making a 4 sided one, but haven't decided yet.

Ball bearing I bought at the local hardware store. The needle bearings I picked up on ebay as they were cheaper with shipping than picking them up locally:
