nesting software
Im looking for nesting software options curently using pro nest 2012 but looking to switch to something else possibly sigmanest. I have to have common line cutting and be able to keep a plate inventory including remnants. is there any other nesting software out there comparable too or better than the two I mentioned?

Re: nesting software
If you have pronest 2012 you will hate sigmanest....that is my opinion....
that being said common line cutting and plate inventory are options. Not that expensive in my eyes compared to the ease of having saved remnants and such.
not to mention pronest 2015 is almost available to the public....(I have been beta testing for a couple weeks now..)Man is it nice.

Re: nesting software
We use pronest by MTC which is now a hypertherm owned company! great sales staff and techs! easy to use and not as many extras needed to do what you want!! we have had the best luck with it, and im gonna tell you we have had some of the worst nesting software known to man here where i work. pronest is as easy as spreading butter on toast compaired to others! Re: nesting software
First time on this board . Trying to make my system more user friendly . I know it is my lack of tech knowledge that hurts me . Have 4x8 fastcut cnc table , hypertherm 1250 plasma , nestmaster 2012 , corelx5 . mach3, sheetcam ,turbocad .
Have a small fabshop in the middle of nowhere . I can use the machine for most things , but mostly use nestmasters shape library . All attempts at learning CAD drawing have been very unrewarding . Nestmaster 2012 has a 2D CAD program in it ,
but hard to learn . Has anyone mastered that ? Calls to Hypertherm usually ended with " why are you using that " .
It would be so simple to just stay in one program and then cut in Mach3 . I know many of you guys are shaking your head , saying it is easy , this guy is dumb . You are right , I am dumb , but could use a bit of help.
Thanks / am I doing this the right way ?

Re: nesting software
I have always found QUALITY video tutorials are one of the best ways of learning just about any software. I look on Youtube for videos, do general Googling for written tutorials too. But the best videos are normally paid for and have quite a few hours of training in them.
The other important thing is having a good forum dedicated to the software. You can't find everything in a video or user manual and that's where a good forum helps.
There's some 2D cad software from Seimens called SolidEdge2d (free) but I've always found it hard to find teaching materials for it. There is a mob that does training videos for it:

I'm not smart either, and I've found the way to learn any software is good teaching material and un-interrupted time (lots of it) going through it.
Keith.
