General designing question

Post by bigjondrags »

This has stumped me for awhile. How do you make a drawing with single cut lines? I use Inkscape and everthing is turned into a perimeter cut so if I make a line it will want to cut one way than come back to complete a box if that makes sense. I also use draftsight but there's no way to import an image to trace. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm not closed off to the idea of getting better software either. The picture is for example with the door edges and headlights and grill Is what I'm talking about

Thanks Jon

Individually go in and break all the lines that you dont want to be complete. like the grill I would use two parallel lines and trim the middle out and then delete added lines.

Not sure with Inkscape, I gave up on it and went with CorelDraw in which if you want a single line that's what you draw. Maybe it has to do with the tool or line width you are using, not sure, just a suggestion.

if you mean during raster to vector everything gets turned into closed paths you would do a centerline trace to get open paths, can't remember if inkscape has centerline tracing or not
