pivot points in cad

Post by rikduk »

I'm a beginner in cad drawing, i only started using it for my plasma table,
but i see the potential for planning how to construct my projects.
i use draftsight btw.
Question: is there a way or tutorial to position accurately undetermined pivot points.
ex: i have a loader bucket that needs to tilt 180 deg. total. i know it needs a "relay" arm with the cylinder.
Usually, i take a piece of cardboard, draw everything full size, then through trial and error find where everything goes.
There must be a faster and more precise way with cad....

thanks

If you are trying to simulate motion or look for interferences, the only thing I know of is to do an array. It would look like a series of snap shots of some thing moving.

Array is a good way to visualise the piece in movement, but i was searching for a method to place the cylinder pins accurately with (maybe) lines and arcs.
