Frequently cut g code file?
I seem to remember being told that you can pull up g codes you frequently use in mach. Is there a hot key that brings up the list and lets ya click on the one ya want to use?
It would be a little quicker then going back to the flash drive each time ya want to cut small parts from skeletons.
Did try to search put to no avail
Thanks gang
Louis

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
Louis,
Just to clarify, are you asking if Mach retains it's own copy of G-code files without having access to the original file?

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
Your settings in MACH should allow you to have your default "load g-code" button to link directly to the same folder of your choice that SheetCam puts the .tap file into.
In my case, it's a DropBox Folder, which is IMO is the way to go with all of these files.

Not sure if WIZARDS are what you are looking for.
Read up on those in the Mach3 manual and see if they'll do the job.
Keith.

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
Yes that is the question. Its been a while since I was told it could do it, and there was a hot key to a list so I could be a little confused. I think Luke at candcnc told we.chasxjs wrote:Louis,

I use two different computers one being for drawing and internet, I store all taps on flash drive and load from there not a big deal to go back to it and grab the files, just a little more convenient if I didn't have to at times.
I will keep searching and re read the manual just thought it might be commonly used feature.
Thanks gang

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
I do the same thing (2 computers and a jump drive) but I copy the file from the jump to the hard disc on the plasma PC.
I put a short cut on the desk top for mach 3 G-code folder and just do a drag an drop from the jump to the folder. And then you just load g-code from the mach folder as normally.

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
i too recommend using a folder on the plasma pc to store the files rather than running from a flash drive
file organization is everything when it comes to any file system whether it be a .tap file or .doc, .dxf, .dwg, .jpg, etc...
the main folder can hold your often used files and sub folders for different uses

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
I'm fairly sure I've read you should not run files from an external storage device in any case, and you are supposed to put them on the hard disk.
Just tried out the "Load Gcode" button and it seems to default to the main Mach folder. You could put a file store folder there that is right at the beginning (e.g. start with AAA) or for just an extra few seconds of clicking to get to it, a similar folder in Mydocuments.
At the end of the day we are talking a few seconds to get to the needed files.
Not sure if Mach has any option to choose the default directory with "Load Gcode".
Keith.

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
Thanks gang.. Been running of usb for about 3 yrs now so no issue there. Have left the control computer alone with no files stored there, but may look in to that. My system is set up to pick up the usb when I hit load G code unless the usb is not in then it will go to mach 3 folder so that wouldn't save any time at all...
Just thought there was a easier way, like sheetcam has recent drawings, if mach had that it could save time..

Re: Frequently cut g code file?
Mach3 DOES have Recent Files. It list the last 10 programs you ran.
Mach3 remembers the LAST directory that you opened a Gcode from. To ME not the best approach as dedicated directorys always work best, but it is what it is. SheetCam gives you the option to do it either way
You can load Gcode directly from a USB stick.
You can save the Gcode file to the Gcode directory then load.
When Mach3 loads a program it loads it into memory so it never has to read/reread from a drive while running the file.
To save time setup a barcode system to load programs. Swipe the barcode and it loads the file .
