Entry gate

Here is a picture of an entry gate my neighbor wanted.

It is made after a Frank Lloyd Wright stained glass art piece.

It is 18 feet long and 5 feet high.

Yes the cows came in to cause trouble today

Please excuse the mess in the background, I got a lot going on and just one of me to go around.....

The only downside is I will now have to get out and open his gate before getting out to open my gate.

Oh well, it helps keep the riff raff out

Nice Gate ::D Dose the cat go with the gate? Is that a swing or roller gate?

Dont think they would want the cat as it was kicked by a cow a couple of years ago and has never been the same.

It is going to be a swing out gate.

I pre bent all of the long lengths up at a bowed angle and welded it under stress to help keep it from sagging.

If it does, it will just look straight at that point.

If not, it will just have a slight upward bow.
I do think it will settle though.

I really like the style of the gate. I myself built a long gate (17'-0" long) years back, and did what you did, pre-rolled and welded it under stress. Was not as nice as yours mind you, but it did come out straight as an arrow, and still is to this day. Was built 12 years ago. Did you powder coat the gate as well? If you did not man you did a great job on painting looks great! Sorry to hear of the cat, I remember living on a farm for 15 years as a child and man we went through cats often. The cattle don't seem to like them to much. I bet your cat learned not to go near them now eh?

All I wanted to say is nice work on the gate and the truck rack, man at night this guy wont be able to say it is too dark to see if he will have all the lights on. Or is all those lights for jacklighting deer?

Thanks for the compliments.

I did not powder coat this gate.
I mixed oil based paint and added hardener to help keep it from chipping.

I still need to touch it up after adding the other colors (over spray).

I like to mix my quarts and add the hardener.

I was not going to powder coat this one, it was a trade for services deal and he got the better end of the deal on this one!

The cat was always a little wacky but the cow thing didn't help her at all. Now she just runs along side of you hissing at you shoes, kinda freaky actually.

But, we feed her and make sure she is comfortable. She has a pretty easy life out here, catches birds and mice all day.

As far as the truck rack lights, I think the guy may have been in the service.
He looks like a young solder who may have been in Iraq. (judging from the bumper stickers on his truck).

If he wants to spot light deer, he will be able to do it now!

I had (4) Kc's on my cj7 one time and it was a lot of light.

The only thing I would worry about is bolt locks.
That's going to be a lot of money on that rack!
