Water filter wrench

Post by DXF »

I bought a water filter at Lowe's that came with a cheap plastic injected molded wrench that twisted and almost broke. I cut a copy out of 16 gage stainless steel and epoxied it to the top of it. I can now use a 3' cheater bar of 1.5" diameter PVC plastic to tighten and loosen it, no problem! I also got tired of replacing the rusty drain covers (made in China) in my shower so I cut a new one out of 14 gage stainless steel. Bet it won't rust! I hope someone can use these designs. Thanks to all of you for the cool designs you have donated. I am very impressed with your talent!

Thanks for the wrench! I have not looked at the size yet but it looks like the same size filter I have. It is always a headache changing it. I have tried all sorts of tricks. This one looks like a winner.

You're welcome. Yes, they can be a real pain to loosen and tighten with what they give you to work with. Something else that helps is to clean the threads real good and coat them and the rubber seal with a thin layer of vasoline. Glad to help
