deeper number marking

Post by alaskasmitty »

Our shop recently purchased a Lincoln Torchmate 4510 plasma table with a plate marker. Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm wondering if there's any tricks or choice of fonts to make the part number more visible after powder coating. Maybe this is not the tool to do this? Maybe its a $3000 option that doesn't really do what I need it to do. Any help would be appreciated. I'm new to this forum. Thanks

you can increase the air pressure for a deeper marking, slow the marking speed down for a deeper marking, and you can apply the powder coat thinner so it doesn't flow into the groove so much. Any or all of those things may help you.

Thanks weldguy for the response. I will try some of those things. Im a little concerned about pressure on scribe. It wants to flex around a bit with too much plate pressure. Slowing it down should help. I'm going to try a fill pattern with marker and see if that helps.
