I'd like the ability to turn off the auto torch heigh control on my Torchmate 4400 table so that when I have issues with that feature, I can still get work done. Not having used the feature before, I'm left assuming a few things.
If I toggle off IHC right now, when the job starts (dry run) after I have the torch lightly touch the plate, it then raises up enough that it wouldn't be able to start a cut. But...am I doing it right? Datum, set X/Y position, run Z down until it just barely touches the work, and then it *should* pull the torch up just enough to fire and then set back at roughly .080" cut height?
Update...I'm mixing up terminology. I think what I am looking to do is turn off the AVHC function. IHS is fine so it detects the initial height automatically (OHMIC sensing), but turning off AVHC will mean the torch maintains the same height during a cutting operation. Correct?

What AVHC system does your Torchmate have? Post pics if you can.

Re: Torchmate how to turn off IHS completely
It has an ACCUMOVE 2 controller.
I had another small project to cut today and turned off AVHC in the software and the torch still touched off with IHS before starting the cut, and worked fine. Good to know I can shut off AVHC if I have issues with it in the future.
